Amanda Staab is a horn player, freelancer, and educator based in Glasgow. She is an adept orchestra, chamber, pit orchestra, wind band, and solo artist. Prior to her move to Glasgow in Fall 2025 to pursue a Master of Music in Musicology at the University of Glasgow, Amanda performed with a variety of groups in the Philadelphia area, including the Curtis School of Music, Pennsylvania Sinfonia, New Jersey Chamber Orchestra, Bay Atlantic Symphony, and Pine Street Wind Quintet. She graduated from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA in the spring of 2023 with a master’s in horn performance, where she studied with renowned Mr. Randy Gardner, pedagogue and prior 2nd Horn with the Philadelphia Orchestra. Prior to her time at Temple, Amanda attended and graduated from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota, USA where she studied with Dr. Jenna McBride Harris, Associate Principal of the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra.
Amanda has performed around the world at venues like Carnegie Hall, Oslo Opera House, Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Lincoln Center, Boettcher Concert Hall, and Orchestra Hall in Minneapolis. She has attended numerous summer festivals including Miami Music Festival, Eastern Music Festival, and Interharmony International Music Festival.
In the past, she has studied extensively with Austin Larson, Young Kim, Patrick Hodge, and Herb Winslow, and has received lessons from or performed in masterclasses for Ernie Tovar, Jeff Lang, Denise Tryon, Dale Clevenger, Kevin Reid, Frank Lloyd, and Kelly Hofman.
Outside of performance, she is a passionate music librarian, arts administrator, and musicologist.
Amanda is currently available for gig bookings and lessons in and around the United Kingdom.
